I am currently working on a solution for GRADLE-2186 and GRADLE-2362. The common opinion there is to allow configuration of eclipse.wtp.component and eclipse.wtp.facet to any and only projects which has applied the "java" plugin inculding eclipse-wtp defaults. But in fact this means, that this bug cannot be fixed. Would that be ok?
