Consider the following build script: apply plugin: 'java' dependencies { compile files('commons-logging-1.1.jar') }Then, try to invoke "gradle dependencies". You'll see that the compile file dependency is not shown. |

This is still an issue in 3.1 and hugely confusing if you're not expecting it. It may impact what IDEs are able to present as well. For example, IDEA correctly detects files dependencies if you drill down into the module detail, but the External Libraries tree at the bottom of the Project sidebar only shows the downloaded dependencies. |
