I had a quick go at this and it's not without issue.

The biggest problem I found is that the add() method on collection clashes with the add() method on ResolverContainer (which extends NamedDomainObjectContainer).

I am now thinking we may be better off not doing this, and just exposing a java.util.Collection compatible view like we currently do with the getAll() method.
