Description |
At the moment you can only create the final WAR artifact when using the WAR plugin. It would be great if it could also provide a new task (e.g. warExploded) that would create an exploded webapp in a specified directory (of course would have a default). Basically, the directory would hold the exploded contents of the WAR. This especially could come in handy when building custom plugins that define tasks dependent on the final webapp structure. |

A good idea. Rather than something specific to the WAR plugin, we might instead add a task rule called 'exploded<ArchiveTaskName>' which creates an exploded version of <ArchiveTaskName>. This way you can use 'explodedWar' to create the exploded WAR, or 'explodedJar' or 'explodedMyCustomTar'. As a work around, you can do something like: task explodedWar(type: Sync) { into "$buildDir/explodedWar' with war } |

Perfect, a generic way to do this would be even better. |

As announced on the Gradle blog we are planning to completely migrate issues from JIRA to GitHub. We intend to prioritize issues that are actionable and impactful while working more closely with the community. Many of our JIRA issues are inactionable or irrelevant. We would like to request your help to ensure we can appropriately prioritize JIRA issues you’ve contributed to. Please confirm that you still advocate for your JIRA issue before December 10th, 2016 by:
We look forward to collaborating with you more closely on GitHub. Thank you for your contribution to Gradle! |

It's easy enough to add that to any build that needs it. No further action. |
