 Description   

When a project is at some level below the top in a hierarchical build, the application plugin adds the full project depth to the structure of the install path and zip archive.

For example:

  • project
    build.gradle
  • subproject
    build.gradle
  • subsubproject
    build.gradle (applies the application plugin)
  • build
  • install
  • subproject
  • subsubproject
  • bin
  • lib

So the bin directory in the zip file is buried:

subsubproject.zip

  • subproject
  • subsubproject
  • bin
  • lib

When what you want is

subsubproject.zip

  • bin
  • lib

or, possibly

subsubproject.zip

  • subsubproject
  • bin
  • lib

As announced on the Gradle blog we are planning to completely migrate issues from JIRA to GitHub.

Thanks again for reporting this issue. We haven't heard back from you after our inquiry from November 15th. We are closing this issue now. Please create an issue on GitHub if you still feel passionate about getting it resolved.
