Would also be beneficial to support linked source folders. In 0.4 specifying an srcDir outside of the project dir gives:
Execution failed for task :myProject:eclipseCp.
Cause: Path = C:\myOtherProject\src is not a subdirectory of the project root dir.

I would enjoy this plugin more if it downloaded sources by default

I also agree that this is vital functionality. As a long time Maven and Ivy user this is a sore spot without having this feature especially if you need to debug into 3rd party libraries such as Spring, Hibernate, etc with any regularity.

This issue is duplicated by GRADLE-898, yet both issues remain open. This one has more voters and watchers than 898, so should probably be the one to remain open. For clarity, could 898 be closed?

Also, this issue's Fix Version is at 0.9 (great!), however it depends on GRADLE-201, which is slated for 1.0. We seem to have a conflict Could you provide any comments as to the likelihood of an 0.9 resolution?

@Chris Re GRADLE-201. This is for a generic convenient way to retrieve sources for an artifact. This does not affect an eclipse solution for 0.9. We do already retrieve sources with the Idea plugin. So we just need to share that code.
