In the userguide it says: Why can't these have defaults? Perhaps the same version of groovy that is used internally as that is known to be installed? In many cases I need to do a small amount of groovy, and I don't really care which version is being used. |

What you can do already is to say something like: dependencies {
groovy localGroovy()
}
